Luxury Home in Sydney sells for record price

A six-bedroom luxury mansion in Sydney’s Wolseley Road boasting a 180-degree view of the city’s Harbour Bridge and Opera was recently acquired for more than A$30 million (S$34.9 million), making this the biggest home sale in Australia this year.

Analysts attribute this boost of luxury home sales to a combination of record-low interest rates, rising share prices and high demand from overseas buyers, particularly from China.

The luxury mansion which features a 20-seater dining room and a wet bar, deep-water pontoon and a heated open-air pool was on the market for more than three years during the global financial crisis before it was withdrawn.

Monday’s transaction follows the listings of two other properties located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, competing to become the most expensive sales in Australia this second half of the year.
